M.Devamma

My name is Devamma and I’m from Alluru village. I have one son. When my son was two years old my husband died of a liver disease. After the death of my husband, I didn’t have any help and support from anyone. I started working as a daily wage labourer to earn a living and feed my son. Sometimes I went door-to-door in the village only to get food to feed my son. Many days I slept with an empty stomach. We didn’t have good house. If it rained, the house leaked, leaving most of the things wet. I was not able to repair my house. We didn’t have electricity, water facility, sometimes  we slept on the road. I faced a lot of troubles in life, leaving me completely broken and in need for help. One day the pastor of my church told me about CBC grants. I felt like this was an open door from God and immediately applied for a loan to start a general store. CBC approved a loan of Rs. 30,000, with which I was able to start a general store close to my home. My son joined CCDC, a project of ICM, as a private teacher in the same village. God has seen my troubles and has vindicated me. He started supplying for my family and soon we started clearing off our debts and seeing growth in the household.

Now, I earn upto Rs. 300 everyday, which amounts to about Rs. 9,000 every month. Not only am I able to clear off the loan, we were able to save up and build a house with the income from my business. When I started the shop, I sold only eatables, snacks and tea. Now, we availed an electricity facility, with which I purchased a refrigerator to sell cold items and foods that need to be refrigerated. This addition to the shop has increased the sales. I thank God for this growth. Financially we are now settled. God has brought us out from depths that I would not like to turn back to and for this reason I will always thank and praise Him. I faithfully offer my tithe to the church as an act of gratefulness and obedience. But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.” Psalm 18:6
